What is the best compound or substance to check for in creams and soaps that would encourage skin lightening ?
Hydroquinone is a the bleaching agent in most skin lightening creams. The FDA allows a maximum of 2% for non-prescription sales. But you can get prescription strength from you doctor, then pick it up at a Costco pharmacy for around $50. Derm MDs charge $80+. This is best for use on specific areas of hyperpigmentation - such as a scar from an old cut or burn. Also, it takes weeks to months to see the effects.
