Insecure about my darker skin..... please help!!?

Ok, so I'm not very dark.I'm from the country of Pakistan, but I live in America. So, growing up, basically my society has taught me that light skin = beautiful. I grew up watching all my light-skin aunts, cousins, and what not using Fair and Lovely, a skin lightening cream. I was always bewildered as to why they needed to use such a cream! They were as pale as ghosts.





Me, I stuck out. It's been hard.. always wondered why I was the darker one - the odd one out. My dad has 6 brothers and sisters, they're light, their kids are light, etc.





I've started to feel very insecure and somewhat angry because of my skin. We had a survey in school one time, and one question was, "This mystery person is from Africa." and one kid asked me if I was the mystery person. The rest of the people said, "She's not black.." and he left...





I always see myself comparing my skin to others, saying, "My skin is darker than hers - why?" or, looking at an African girl, "Is my skin lighter than hers?"

You have nothing, and I mean nothing, to be insecure about. You were born that way, the way you were meant to be. You aren't less pretty than any girl, I'm sure. Skin doesn't matter. What matters is the personality.
Reply:Okay, people from different countries have different skin tones. Who cares if you have dark skin? You shouldn't be bothered. You probably are really pretty. And, plus, your probably the only person who notices it. If you really wanted lighter skin, you could use whitening skin creams.





People have darker skin than you. And plus the darker the skin, the less chance of skin cancer and/or sunburns.

skin color doesnt matter at all.using a skin lightening cream makes people look too pale and sickly.dark skin looks good on the people born with it.be happy with what u hav cos think that there are people out their dying to have dark skin.it also reduces ur chance of skin cancer..etc.
