Lemon and milk for skin discoloration?

I've heard that applying lemon juice to skin discoloration will lighten these dark spots.

however, should i not go out in the sun after doing so? ive also heard that this only causes more discoloration. If i do happen to go out into the sun, will applying sunscreen over the treated area slow the effects? and should i leave the juice on my skin or wash it off after ten minutes?

milk is commonly used to lighten skin. Will this also treat dark spots?

Find out how lemon can be put to work for you--to give bounce to and shine to hair, lighten age spots or discoloration, smooth your feet, and make your skin look fresher and younger. Here’s how.

Lemon is rich in fruit acids that will gently remove dead skin cells and bleach darkened or discolored areas. We recommend you only use fresh-squeezed juice, not the bottled stuff, which contains anti-oxidizing chemicals that are harmful to the skin.

Discontinue using any of these formulas if you experience discomfort or sensitivity.

Here are our lovely, lively lemon beauty tips:

1. To lighten discolored elbows: cut a lemon in half and place one elbow in each half for approximately ten minutes. Lemon’s acids will gently break down the dark patches of skin so they may be washed away.

2. To exfoliate dead skin and diminish the appearance of freckles and age spots, gently rub a cut lemon and 1/2 teaspoon sugar granules over the skin for a few minutes. Repeat at least once a week until the darkened areas fade.

3. Another way to lighten age spots: simply sit with a slice of lemon applied directly to the area for ten minutes. Repeat once a week until spots fade.

4. Lemon hair conditioner: Mix the juice of one lemon with one cup warm water and apply to hair. Allow to remain for a few minutes, then rinse. This will add fresh bounce and shine.

5. Dandruff treatment: Mix a few tablespoons of fresh lemon with warm olive oil and rub gently into scalp. Allow to remain for 15 minutes, then shampoo and rinse as usual.

6. For smooth, pretty feet: In a foot bath, combine 1 cup of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1/4 cup milk and enough water to fill the basin. (You may also add a few drops of your favorite essential oil for fragrance, if you like.) Soak feet for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Do this once a week for several weeks for noticeably softer, smoother feet.

7. Astringent toner for oily skin: Combine the following--2 tablespoons lemon juice, 2 tablespoons vodka, 1 tablespoon distilled water, 1 teaspoon witch hazel. Apply with clean cloth or cotton balls to skin, then rinse. Caution: do not apply to broken skin, as it will sting! This formula will keep in the refrigerator for a week.

8. Lemon Juice Astringent Simple

Simple squeeze some lemon juice into a glass jar, and dab some onto your face every morning, let it set for 10 minutes, then wash it off with warm water followed by a moisturizer. Fresh lemon juice will last for 4-5 days.

Skin Discolorations in Ethnic Skin?

I am a minority and my knees and elbows are darker than the rest of my body. Also, I take birth control pills for a health problem I have and I have begun developing melasma on the cheeks (a darkening of the skin on the side of the face due to hormones). All you other people of color out there, what do you use to lighten skin discolorations such as these? How long did it take to fade? Thanks for your time.

Skin Discolorations in Ethnic Skin?
Use 100% cocoa butter and make sure you are very consistent when using this. You should see results if you are a consistent user! Also, I know they have ligtening/bleaching creams. I'm not sure how safe and accurate these products are, but you may want to talk with your dermatologist or take the time to research these products and see if anything fits your needs. Hope this helped!
Reply:I use a combinations of Ambi and Shea butter. I have been using Ambi since i was 15 and i am now 33.
Reply:I am a makeup artist and deal with this on a regular. There is actual skin lightening sticks that look like lip stick. People sale them in most beauty supply stores that cater to the ethnic community. IE: any place that sales weave or hair pieces. I used to manage a beauty supply store that sold tons of the stuff, and people would always come back for it. it actually has a sort of bleach in the ingredients that is safe for skin.
Reply:try diana stalder products the papaya kojic soap, whitening cream and lotion and for only $26.99 for the set of 3. You can never get cheaper than this website. You can check out customers testimonials and you will able to know which skin care you prefer to use. Compare prices before buying.

Eating and sleeping problems related to pale skin?

A friend of mine has been recently appearing paler and paler. Not pretty pale but a sickly pallid color when she once had a golden glow. She claims that her sleeping problems (insomnia/sleep defeciency??) are the cause of her unusual coloring, but I suspect she has an eating disorder as well (anorexia?). I was wondering which would be the more likely cause of her skin's lightening. Thanks.

Eating and sleeping problems related to pale skin?
vegetarian, eh? try anemia -- lack of iron.

lack of protien can do that too.

does she eat spinnach or take iron pills? no? that's it. does she eat lots of cheeze and beans? no? that's it.

being unhealthy can interfeer with all aspects of ur life, i imaine it can make your sleep worse too.

lots of healthy vegetarians out there, but a lot of them are too thin and fragile (get sick a lot), and all vegans look sick and pale to me.

Skin toner?

My skin is very strange. I went to a dermatologist, and they said I had EXTREMELY sensitive skin that dries and cracks easily. I've tried some toners before, and they all dried my skin up like a chip, leaving awful scars and dark spots on my face. Anyone have any suggestions (other than makeup or surgical procedure, and tanning, which makes it worse) on what toner to use for extremely sensitive skin, or which product can lighten skin/spots?

Skin toner?
your skin is sensitive because you've been using synthetic toners. probbaly the best toner for you right now is just plain old chamomile tea (chamomile is so good for senstitive skin, and yes, teas make the best toners) soak the tea bag for 15 minutes, squeeze the remainder out and dab gently all over your face. get rid of any commercial products you have because all they do is cause more skin problems. and invest in good natural/organic porducts (upurea.com mountainroseherbs.com drhaushka.com gratefulbody.com)
Reply:Look for a toner with absolutely no alcohol in it. L'Oreal has one in a pink bottle that has a skin hydrater in it as well.

I don't know what you're using for a moisturizer, but make sure it's nice a thick [not one for your body, has to be specifically for your face] and it coats your skin thourougly.

You can use a product with hydroquinone in it to lighten spots on your face, or you can gradually fade them with a retinol product.

You can also look into low percentage chemical peels and microdermabrasion. These methods are more expensive, but you'll see results right away, and they will last longer.

Almond oil lighetening skin?

ive heard it lightens skin, but any at home remedies, that will lighten skin. i have a dark caramel complexion. i wanna make it light brown or caramel. Any remedies?or does almond oil lighten skin?

Almond oil lighetening skin?
i haven't heard of almond oil being able to lighten skin.. what i recommend for the face is a mild skin lightening soap.. my personal favorite is the black licorice soap.. remember, not all black soaps are the same.. some don't deliver results, but some are potent and effective. :-)

How to make my skin more yellow ?

my skin colour is very odd. In some light my skin tone looks yellow, in other times it looks redish brown. In bright light my skin looks quite fair- light weatish, but other times its looks different shades of yellow-brown-red. when there is no light my skin looks dark, but very clear.

I have used fairness creams in the past and have also used home remedies to lighten skin. Currently i am using besan flour, tumeric and mixed with milk. Does this facepack lighten the skin ?

Reply:Maybe you should be using a make up to even out skin tone. Try bare minerals, it works great. You're skin is going to look different in all different types of light. You should apply make up in unfiltered natural light. That way you know what you truly look like.
